                          SIROCCO 2001

                       8th Colloquium on 
       Structural Information and Communication Complexity
       June 27-29, 2001. Vall de Nuria, Catalonia, Spain

SCOPE: SIROCCO is designed to bring together researchers
interested in the fundamental principles underlying all computing
through communication. The Colloquium will therefore focus on the
relationship between computing and communication, i.e., the study of
those factors which are significant for the computability and the
communication complexity of problems, and on the interplay between
structure, knowledge and complexity.  Original papers are solicited in
distributed computing, high-speed networks, interconnection networks,
mobile computing, optical computing, parallel computing, wireless
networks, etc.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to): 

      - Communication Complexity 
      - Information Dissemination 
      - Routing Protocol
      - Distributed Data-Structure 
      - Models of Communication 
      - Network Topologies 
      - Sense of Direction 
      - Structural Properties and Computability 
      - Topological Awareness and Metric Information 

The colloquium will have position papers (outlining open problems,
research directions, etc.), research papers, and invited talks.

SUBMISSION FORMAT: Manuscripts consist of an extended abstract of at
most 10 pages (A4, Times Roman 11pt with reasonable margins), clearly
indicating the type of submission (i.e., position, or research).
Electronic submissions consisting of a readable postscript file are
strongly encouraged. The postscript file should be sent by e-mail at
the address sirocco@mat.upc.es. The message must also include a header
with title of the paper, list of the authors, e-mail address of the
contact author and abstract in ASCII format.  Authors who are unable
to submit electronically should contact Francesc Comellas at
comellas@mat.upc.es for further instructions.

ABOUT THE PLACE

SIROCCO'2001 will be held in Vall de Nuria, in the Pyrenees, 
Catalonia, at the border between France and  Spain. 
Vall de Nuria is a  mountain resort situated about 120 kms 
North of Barcelona, and easily accessible by
train from the Barcelona Airport.
